İsrailin “Haaretz” qəzeti İsraildəki böhranın dərinliyini ifadə edərkən təhlükəsizlik və hərbi mənbələrə istinad edərək yazıb:
İsrail Hərbi Hava Qüvvələrinin 15 qırıcı təyyarəsi yarım saat Hizbullaha məxsus pilotsuz uçan aparatı təqib edib, şimal yaşayış məntəqələrinin bütün sakinləri qorxudan sığınacaqlara gediblər və təqib nəticəsiz qalıb.
Bu baş nazir Benyamin Netanyahu və onun hərbi naziri Yoav Qalantın gecə-gündüz Hizbullahın məhv edildiyini elan etdiyi bir vaxtda olub.
Eyni kontekstdə işğalçı rejimdəki “Hayfa” səlahiyyətliləri də bu yaşayış məntəqəsinə getdikcə daha çox enən Hizbullah raketləri və pilotsuz təyyarələrindən qorxduqlarını bildiriblər.
İvrit mediası isə “Hizbullah öz təhdidini həyata keçirərək, Kiryat Şmounaya etdiklərini Hayfaya da edəcək və bu şəhərə öz raketlərini yağdıracaq və sakinlərini sığınacaqlara göndərəcək” kimi xəbər yayıb.

March 24 (Reuters) – Marlboro maker Philip Morris International Inc is working on options to exit the
Russian market, citing a complex and rapidly changing regulatory and operating environment in the country following its invasion of Ukraine.
The company, which garnered around 6% its net
revenue from Russia in 2021, said on Thursday
it has discontinued sale of several cigarette products and
canceled all product launches for the year in Russia.
It has also canceled plans to make over 20 billion TEREA sticks, heated tobacco units intended for use with its IQOS
ILUMA devices, as well as related investment of $150 million.
Earlier this month, Philip Morris had suspended its planned investments and
decided to scale down manufacturing operations in the country.
Rival Imperial Brands too has started talks to transfer its Russian business to a local third party, joining BAT in exiting the sanction-hit country.

SHANGHAI, Oct 9 (Reuters) – China’s yuan held steady against the U.S.
dollar on Wednesday, as investors awaited more stimulus
from the world’s second-largest economy and the Federal Reserve’s September
meeting minutes due later in the day to gauge its policy
path. The dollar held steady, giving some
relief to the yuan after a sharp rally to a seven-week high last week.
Spot yuan opened at 7.0650 per dollar and was last trading 12 pips
lower than the previous late session close at
7.066. Prior to the market opening, the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) set the midpoint rate, around
which the yuan is allowed to trade in a 2% band, at 7.0568 per dollar,
only 3 pips weaker than a Reuters’ estimate.
China’s blue-chip CSI300 index dropped for the first time since Sept.
13, poised to snapping a 10-day winning streak, after officials on Tuesday failed
to offer much new on stimulus plans to revive the economy.
The yuan is down 0.7% against the dollar so far this month,
due to broad dollar strength, but the currency has 0.5% firmed for the
year-to-date.
China equities’ recent rally has raised the bar for an upside surprise from expected fiscal stimulus news, said UBS strategists led by Rohit
Arora, adding that the offshore yuan’s near-term risk reward is unattractive.
“Historically, fizzling of China equities’ spurts acted as a bigger drag on CNH vis-à-vis the tailwinds from equities’ surge,” the
strategists said.
Nevertheless, market participants are still awaiting additional stimulus measures that could help further lift
China asset sentiment. Citi FX traders think the offshore yuan could trade well if local equities remain supported, similar to what happened in Nov.
2022 – Jan. 2023, according to the bank’s note to clients. The offshore yuan traded at 7.0682 yuan per dollar, up
about 0.09% in Asian trade. The dollar’s six-currency
index was 0.039% higher at 102.53. LEVELS AT 02:44 GMT INSTRUM CURRENT

Amid tepid returns at the box office for Joker: Folie à Deux,
a number of fans of the sequel took to social media over the weekend in defense of the
sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 motion picture.
The film, which sees Joaquin Phoenix return to
the lead role of The Joker/Arthur Fleck, debuted to a
paltry $40 million at the domestic box office,
good enough for the weekend’s top spot, but less than projections, and half that
of its predecessor.
Amid the early returns, a number of fans took up for the movie and its cinematic depth, in breaking away from the cookie cutter nature of sequels to introduce a musical element not present in the first film, with Lady Gaga joining
the franchise.
‘Joker 2 was amazing,’ one user said, adding that it was ‘100% as divisive as people are making it
out to be. I love that the film didn’t try to be a traditional sequel,
and fully committed to the storytelling they presented.
It never deviated to be a film full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing
aspects.’
Another user said, ‘I kinda loved Joker 2. I loved how it was structured as a meta-exploration of the first film’s fandom and
the musical elements were a lot of fun.’

being more interesting and creative than anything marvel has done in years is
expected.’
A user said that ‘Joker 2 is genuinely such

Some users said that the bad word-of-mouth the film was suffering from
was impacting the opinions of moviegoers.
‘The Joker 2 hate is so forced like did we watched the same movie????????’ one user said,
while another said the hate for the film is ‘so unjustified.’
One fan predicted that the motion picture with stand the test of time with
audiences.
‘I may be one of ten people who genuinely liked
the Joker 2. Remember me when society circles back to it in 10 years and
says its a masterpiece,’ said the user. ‘The world just wasn’t ready for it yet.’
Said one user: ‘I actually thoroughly enjoyed it.
If you don’t like musicals or ‘art house’ style films you probably won’t like it because
it’s not made for you. The dynamic between Harley and Joker
was brilliant and showcased the ‘obsession’ that is key to that duo.’
The movie’s box office collapse was swift and has many in the industry
wondering: How did the highly anticipated sequel to
an Oscar-winning, billion-dollar film with the same creative
team go wrong? Just three weeks ago, tracking services pegged the movie
for a $70 million debut, which would still have been down a fair amount from Joker’s record-breaking $96.2 million launch in October
2019.

Reviews were mixed out of the Venice Film Festival, where it premiered in competition like the first movie and even got a 12-minute standing ovation.
But the homecoming glow was short-lived, and the fragile foundation would crumble in the coming weeks with its Rotten Tomatoes score
dropping from 63 percent at Venice to 33 percent by
its first weekend in theaters. Perhaps even more surprising were the audience
reviews: Ticket buyers polled on opening night gave the film a deadly D CinemaScore.
Exit polls from PostTrak weren’t any better. It got a meager half star out
of five possible.
‘That´s a double whammy that´s very difficult to recover
from,’ said Paul Dergarabedian, the senior media analyst for Comscore.
‘The biggest issue of all is the reported budget. A $40 or $50 million opening for a less expensive
movie would be a solid debut.’
Joker: Folie à Deux cost at least twice as much as the first film to produce,
though reported figures vary at exactly how pricey it was to make.
Phillips told Variety that it was less than the reported $200 million; Others have it pegged at $190 million. Warner Bros.
released the film in 4,102 locations in North America. About 12.5 percent of its domestic total came from 415 IMAX screens.
Internationally, it’s earned $81.1 million from 25,788 screens, bringing its total global earnings estimate to $121.1 million. In the next two weeks, Joker 2 will
also open in Japan and China.
Second place went to Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot, which added $18.7 million in its second weekend, bringing
its domestic total to nearly $64 million. Globally, it’s made over $100 million. Warner Bros.’ Beetlejuice Beetlejuice took third place in weekend five, Paramount’s Transformers One landed in fourth and Universal and Blumhouse’s Speak
No Evil rounded out the top five.
The other big new release of the weekend, Lionsgate’s White Bird, flopped with just $1.5 million from just
over 1,000 locations, despite an A+ CinemaScore.
Overall, the weekend is up from the same frame last year, but Joker’s start is an unwelcome twist for theater owners hoping to narrow the box office
deficit.
The sequel has already been the subject of many think pieces, some who posit that it
was deliberately alienating fans of the first movie
Phillips and star Joaquin Phoenix have said they aspired to make something as ‘audacious’ as the first film.
The sequel added Lady Gaga into the fold , as a Joker superfan, and delved further into the mind of Arthur Fleck,
imprisoned at Arkham and awaiting trial for the murders he committed in the first.
It´s also a musical, with elaborately imagined song and dance numbers to old
standards. Gaga even released a companion album called ”Harlequin,’ alongside the film.
The sequel has already been the subject of many think pieces, some who posit that it was deliberately alienating fans of the first movie.
In cruder terms, it´s been called a ‘middle finger.’ But fans often ignore the advice of critics, especially
when it comes to opening their wallets to see
revered comic book characters on the big screen.
‘They took a swing for the fences,’ Dergarabedian said.
‘But except for a couple of outliers, audiences in 2024 seem to want
to know what they´re getting when they´re going to the theater.
They want the tried and true, the familiar.’
Deadline editor Anthony D´Alessandro thinks the problem started with
the idea to make the Joker sequel a musical. ‘No fan of the original movie wanted
to see a musical sequel,’ he wrote on Saturday.
The first film was also divisive and the subject of much
discourse, then about whether it might send the wrong message to the wrong type of person. And
yet people still flocked to see what the fuss was about.
Joker went on to pick up 11 Oscar nominations, including best picture and best director,
and three wins. It also made over $1 billion and was the
highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, until this summer when Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine took the crown.
Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and
Canadian theaters, according to Comscore. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

There are no diameters for squares; let us just make that clear.
Diameter only applies for circles (Line that goes through centre of circle and
touches edges). However, diameters in squares would be
simply length(but went through centre). Therefore it could be
anywhere between 15-~21.2132. (Straight length/width or diagonal or anywhere else.)
Hope this helps 😀

“Joker: Folie à Deux” is the No. 1 movie at the
box office, but it might not be destined for a happy ending.
In a turn of events that only Arthur Fleck would
find funny, the follow-up to Todd Phillips´ 2019 origin story
about the Batman villain opened in theaters nationwide this weekend to
a muted $40 million, according to studio estimates Sunday,
less than half that of its predecessor. The collapse was swift and has many in the industry wondering:

In his review for The Associated Press, Jake Coyle wrote that “Phillips has followed his very antihero take on the Joker with a very anti-sequel. It combines prison drama, courthouse thriller and musical, and yet turns out remarkably inert given how combustible the original was.”
The sequel has already been the subject of many think pieces, some who
posit that the sequel was deliberately alienating fans of the first movie.

“But except for a couple of outliers, audiences in 2024 seem to want to know what they´re getting when they´re going to the theater. They want the tried and true, the familiar.”
It has some high-profile defenders too: Francis Ford Coppola, who last week got his own D+ CinemaScore for his
pricey, ambitious and divisive film “Megalopolis,”
entered the Joker chat with an Instagram post.
“@ToddPhillips films always amaze me and I enjoy them thoroughly,” Coppola wrote.
“Ever since the wonderful `The Hangover´ he´s always one step ahead of the audience never doing what they expect.”
“Megalopolis,” meanwhile, dropped a terminal 74% in its
second weekend with just over $1 million, bringing its
total just shy of $6.5 million against a $120 million budget.
Deadline editor Anthony D´Alessandro thinks the problem started with

A video of Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix’s awkward reaction after they
were asked to share their thoughts on Joker: Folie à Deux has gone viral amid the immense backlash that the film is facing.
The highly anticipated Joker sequel hit theaters on Friday, but immediately,
it was fiercely panned by viewers and critics alike.
Amid the scrutiny, a clip of Lady Gaga and Joaquin discussing the film has
taken over the web.
While chatting with Good Morning Britain last week, the two stars were asked if
the movie turned out to be ‘everything they expected.’
Immediately, they both turned to look at one another and smiled.

The highly anticipated Joker sequel hit theaters on Friday, but was almost immediately panned by viewers and critics
For a few seconds, the two stars sat in silence as they both
waited for the other to answer the question.
‘Tell them how you feel, Joaquin,’ Lady Gaga, 38, said to her costar as she held out a fake microphone in front of him.
‘It’s so hard to talk about but I think we feel like we achieved what we
set out to do,’ Joaquin, 49, simply stated.
Someone on X, formerly Twitter, posted the moment online last week and it went viral, gaining more then 437,000 views in a matter of days – and many users took their initial silence as proof that
they ‘didn’t like’ the film.
The internet has been flooded with negative posts about the
flick ever since it premiered, with one user branding it as a ‘bore’ and another claiming it had ‘no plot.’
Many social media users have also slammed the movie’s final scene, which saw main character Arthur Fleck (portrayed
by Joaquin) brutally stabbed to death by a fellow inmate.
This meant that the man that audiences had been watching over the course of the two movies was
never the Joker at all, but in fact, the infamous villain from the Batman series was really just the random inmate
who killed Arthur in the last moments of the film.
The shocking twist left numerous viewers unsatisfied, and they took to social media to share
their frustration.

The shocking twist ending left many viewers unsatisfied
and they took to social media to share their frustration
‘The ending made the movie a complete waste,’ one outraged user wrote.
‘The ending was pathetic,’ scathed someone else. ‘WTF you mean no Joker?’
‘The ending made no sense,’ added another person.
‘That ending? It’s so bad that not only it ruins Joker 2 but also the first
Joker for the audience,’ read a fourth tweet.
‘The Joker had so much potential but that f**king ending ruined everything,
‘ a fifth said.
The Todd Phillips-directed musical serves as a follow-up
to the 2019 box office hit, which was simply titled Joker.
The first film grossed over $1 billion and at
the time was the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
It received 11 Oscar nominations – two of which it won.
The sequel, however, has already been much less successful.
It had a lackluster $40 million debut at the box office in its first
weekend, and has a low rating of 33 percent and 31 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
‘Undoing much of the goodwill from its predecessor, the sequel convolutes what could have
been a unique character study into a bloated encore that goes out
with a whimper,’ reads one review.
Another critic wrote, ‘This movie is a disjointed mess and a waste of
time. It’s just tired, not particularly interesting, but it does look good from a
production design standpoint.’

It is length * width * height.
Joe Aston got the kind of book launch every first
time author dreams of – massive amounts of free publicity online, in newspapers
and on TV and radio.
And it was all thanks to Anthony Albanese’s ill-informed attack on Aston over what was
written in his book, The Chairman’s Lounge – The Inside
Story of how Qantas sold us out.
Despite the resultant terrible publicity – which has led to him
being called ‘upgrade Albo’ – and calls for an inquiry, Aston told Daily Mail
Australia his book is ‘not a hit job on Anthony Albanese’.
Aston insisted he’s ‘not trying to get a scalp’, but reiterated that the Prime
Minister ‘had a direct line to Alan Joyce’.
The book claims Mr Albanese got 22 upgrades from economy on Qantas flights by
personally requesting them from the airline’s then CEO Mr Joyce
– which the Prime Minister has categorically denied.
According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’, 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese got upgrades for were
‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips to Rome, London, Los
Angeles and Honolulu.
But instead of addressing the claim, Mr Albanese chose to shoot the messenger
and, in turn, shot himself in the foot.
He said Aston was using the accusations to sell books and said he was hiding his employment
history.
‘I don’t see declarations that he’s a former Liberal Party staffer… I don’t see declarations he’s a former Qantas employee,’ the Prime Minister said.
But before the book even gets to the contents page there is a photo of Aston that refers to him as the then-Qantas corporate communications
senior adviser.
Joe Aston (pictured) got the kind of book launch every first
time author dreams of – massive amounts of free publicity online, in newspapers and on TV and radio
Anthony Albanese (right) is pictured with his fiance Jodie Haydon (left) and then Qantas CEO
Alan Joyce on March 31, 2023 in Sydney, Australia
And the first chapter of the book reveals that he worked for then-Liberal MP Bruce Baird, who held the southern Sydney seat of Cook before Scott Morrison.
‘My professional history is not a secret or not disclosed, it’s in the first line of the first page of the book,’ Aston said on Tuesday night,
just before his book launch.
Though he was grateful for the free publicity Mr Albanese’s response gave the book, Aston was still ‘staggered’ at the untrue claims about him the Prime Minister made.
‘He’s under enormous pressure and I know, I’ve seen this many times with public figures and
leaders who struggle to see their own part in it, the terrible circumstances
that they create,’ he said.

Extravagant Qantas perk Anthony Albanese FAILED to declare is revealed…
after two days of denials
Asked if Mr Albanese had been poorly advised in his attack, Aston,
who is a former Australian Financial Review columnist, wonders if
the Prime Minister ‘even listens to advice at this point’.
‘All he’s doing is talking around the issue and he’s blaming
me and he’s blaming other MP’s for also taking
upgrades (on Qantas flights).
‘He’s avoiding the only thing that he can’t talk about, which is, did you ask Qantas for
confirmed upgrades on your private holidays when you were the Transport Minister?
The answer is “yes” and he’s desperately trying to
avoid saying it.’
Smelling blood, Opposition leader Peter Dutton said the Prime Minister should refer himself to the anti-corruption commission over the flight upgrades.
Coming on top of Mr Albanese’s tone deaf purchase of a $4.3million clifftop mansion while so many people are struggling to pay their mortgage or rent, the latest blow to
his credibility has led to calls for him to resign.
Aston refuses to be drawn on this, though.
‘I never expected this (part of the book) to even this part to get
this far. I really am shocked at how it’s blown up.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is pictured with the then Qantas CEO Alan Joyce

referendum
Among the movers and shakers at Joe Aston’s book launch in the ritzy Hemmesphere
club in Sydney was Tabcorp director David Gallop (pictured)
Paul Barry (pictured in blue shirt), the host of the ABC’s Media Watch show,
was also at the launch
‘So to the extent that it has, I would say …
anyone who reads the book will learn that this book is not
a hit job on Anthony Albanese. This book is about Qantas.
‘Anthony Albanese is an example of how Qantas influences politicians on both sides of the aisle, Labor, Liberal,
National, you name it. They’ve been doing it for
more than a generation.
‘They’re the best influence peddler in Australia. I’m not here trying to
get a scalp. That’s not what this book is about and it never was.’
But the conversation Daily Mail Australia had with Aston mirrors the conversations being had across Australia and eventually winds up back on Mr Albanese.
‘Even I’ve underestimated how fed up the public is with the freebie mindset of
politicians,’ he said.

where his book The Chairman’s Lounge was launched
‘And unfortunately for Albanese, he’s been in politics
a long time and that kind of behaviour is quite normalised to him, is what I’ve seen.
‘I mean, he loves the free concert tickets and sitting at the front row of the Australian Open Tennis.
‘I went to the Australian Open Tennis as a journalist almost every year for 12 years and he was the only Prime Minister (I saw there).
‘Those tickets are worth thousands of dollars to
sit in the front row of the International Grand Slam. He’s the first Prime Minister who I’ve ever seen do that.
‘That to me is a sign that he doesn’t quite get
what it looks like to others when he’s on the gravy train. And I
think (the claims in the book are) just another example of that.’
In Australian politics it’s regular practise for an MP’s travel to be booked in economy, then someone in their office phones the airline and asks if their
flight can be upgraded.
The difference with the Prime Minister is that ‘he had a very
direct line to Alan Joyce,’ Aston said.
‘The other thing is there’s a difference between an upgrade where it’s in the
booking and if the seat’s empty when the flight closes, you’ll get
upgraded.
‘This is different. This is a confirmed upgrade where the ticket is
converted and you are guaranteed. You’re not going to the airport crossing your
fingers going “Geez, I hope there is a spare seat”.
‘You’re guaranteed. You turn up knowing you’re getting a seat and the only person at Qantas
who can issue those types of upgrades is the CEO. No other executive can do that.
‘So it is beyond question that Alan joints authorised
these upgrades (for Anthony Albanese).’
Aston enjoyed many upgrades to the pointy end of planes during his time as
a travel journalist, and understands the attraction for politicians
to get up there.
‘These things are tempting and it’s human nature too.
Once you’ve experienced the front of the plane, it’s very hard to go back.
‘For politicians, they run around with all these staff and they’ve got chauffeured cars and they fly in business, but they don’t get paid like CEOs …
‘They’re not in a situation where they can afford to go
flying around in the front of the plane on personal travel.
‘A normal person would say “Therefore I won’t (fly business class). But (for politicians) it’s a culture of entitlement.’
Aston is careful to point out that most people would say politicians are ‘very well paid compared to the average worker’.
But that doesn’t stop some MPs from desperately seeking a free ride, whether it’s a flight upgrade, concert tickets or the executive box at sporting events.
Late on Wednesday night, a spokeswoman Mr Albanese said ‘The Prime Minister did not ever call Alan Joyce seeking an upgrade’.
‘All travel has been appropriately declared and is a matter of public record.’
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Qantas for comment.
The Chairman’s Lounge – The Inside Story of how Qantas sold us out, by Joe Aston, is available now in bookshops and from online retailers
WHAT IS THE QANTAS CHAIRMAN’S LOUNGE?
The Qantas Chairman’s Lounge is an invitation-only club approved by the company chairman, with the guest list a closely-guarded secret.
It has been dubbed ‘the most exclusive club in the country’ and comes with a distinct black card.
Members include senior-ranking MPs such as ministers, state premiers and the Prime Minister, leaders of major unions and sporting groups, Qantas ambassadors, selected A-list celebrities, major corporate figures and high-profile media personalities.
The clubs can be found in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide airports but are not signposted – you have to know where to look.
Inside you will find expensive wood and brass furnishings, wool carpet and marble flooring, all bathed in natural light.
Members enjoy fine à la carte dining with a complimentary premium array of beers, spirits and Australian wines. Wine bottles are often given as departing gifts.
Facilities may also include spas, showers and an assortment of books and magazines.
Members may bring in two guests at a time.
Lounge attendants personally alert you when your flight is ready to board, and your personal preferences are logged for each flight.
Membership also entitles you to first-class facilities at Qantas partner airlines.

Joker: Folie À Deux director Todd Phillips ‘wanted nothing to do with
DC’ during making of the $200million flop film, a new report has claimed.
The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning film – stars Joaquin Phoenix and
Lady Gaga and was considered a surefire hit for Warner Bros Pictures – but was slammed by critics and
failed to ignite at the box office.
The sequel has been roundly criticized for being a musical and ‘ignoring’ the DC fanbase – with an agent familiar with Phillips’ process telling Variety he ‘wanted

Peter Safran notably absent from the film’s LA premiere afterparty last month.
A source said: ‘If the first movie was about some down-on-his-luck, mentally ill

Not a billion. People showed up because that guy was Joker.’
In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening sequence of the
film does not include a DC Studios logo.

A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the end

Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips, DC and

to his huge past successes.
It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca
and Abdy rather than Gunn and Safran – who took control of DC two
months before production began on Joker 2 in December 2022.
Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s cut screening for the studio but Phillips fueled
rift speculation when he told a reporter: ‘With all

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in April 2022 and was ‘open to

Joker: Folie À Deux has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history as the film bombed at
the box office on opening night.
It has only made $114million worldwide against its $200million budget.
The psychological musical thriller — which has been criticized
as ‘bleak’ and ‘disappointing’ — officially released in theaters
on Friday, October 4, but it only raked in $20 million at the domestic box office, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Phoenix reprised his role as the Joker in the sequel,
which had earned him an Oscar for his portrayal in the 2019 film, while Gaga took
on the role of Harleen Lee Quinzel (Harley Quinn).
However, Joker: Folie À Deux has been given a D rating on CinemaScore —
the lowest score for a comic book movie.
Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters earlier this year and also
received terrible reviews — holds a higher score with a C+.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience score
of 31% and a critic score of 32%.
The sequel is projected to rake in less that $50 million at the domestic box office during the entirety of opening weekend, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Weeks ago, the movie had been projected to bring
in around $70 million – but the number has since drastically dropped.
Joker (2019) notably opened with $96.2 million when the
film first released in theaters – and eventually landed a little
over $1 billion in the global box office.
The first movie – which was also directed by Todd Phillips – had a budget of between $55 and $70 million. However, the budget increased
for Folie À Deux to around $200 million.
The 2019 movie garnered praise and positive reviews
from both critics and audiences – and won the Golden Lion during the 76th Venice International Film Festival.
Joaquin received an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of the
Joker (Arthur Fleck) – and the film garnered an additional Academy Award
for Best Original Score.
The sequel also screened during the Venice International
Film Festival last month in September, where it earned a 12-minute standing ovation, per Deadline.
A source directly involved with the film said: ‘No one could get through to Todd.

However, audiences have since taken to X after the movie released in theaters

which features musical sequences.
One fan penned, ‘Joaquin Phoenix don’t deserve this.
what happened to the script?’ while another added, ‘is it that bad,’ followed by a crying face emoji.
‘Ironically I feel that a musical, if done well, could have
been a good choice. It’d show how much of an unreliable narrator Fleck is,’ one typed.
‘But with some original songs, that keep everything vague, not just covers.
Also when I heard of the ending I snorted fr.’
A social media user wrote, ‘Stop making sequels as musicals if the original wasn’t a musical.’
‘Maybe he [Phillips] only had an hour long movie, and decided to randomly add musical scenes to fill the
runtime,’ one penned.
‘Joker downfall really needs to be studied,’ another shared,

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Phillips discussed whether he would be interested in making a third Joker film or a
movie centered around Gaga’s character.
‘It’s not really where this movie is headed for me. I feel like my time in the DC Universe was these two films.’
Ahead of the movie’s release, Lady Gaga also dropped an accompanying album titled Harlequin on September 27.

The ‘bleak’ sequel, has also received a tepid reception from fans,
with some claiming Lady Gaga’s career could be at risk.
While the same director Todd Phillips was back in the hot seat, critics have said the sequel is just a
‘repeat’ of the first hit but with an added musical twist.
Most critics have said Todd failed to use Gaga correctly in the movie and claimed
she was only bought in for the musical aspect of
it.
While the majority of critics say Joker: Folie À Deux didn’t live up to expectations, others have dubbed the movie ‘bold’
and ‘brilliant.’
Daily Mail’s Brian Viner commended the move as ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant’ but said it lacked
any thrill.
The Independent’s Geoffrey Macnab said: ‘Today Joker is best remembered as one of the most subversive
and original films of the last decade, while its hugely anticipated sequel is just as bleak and formally daring as its predecessor’.
Meanwhile, the Irish Times’ Donald Clarke gave the movie just two
stars but credited Phillips’ work for making a sequel following the first movie’s $1billion success.
Financial Times critic Danny Leigh said although Gaga worked hard
to bump the ratings up in the sequel, Phillips appeared to
have no idea what to do with her.
Giving a three star rating, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw claimed the movie proves ‘claustrophobic’ and ‘repetitive.’

The Times’ Kevin Maher wrote: ‘The director Todd Phillips said there would be no follow-up to the original, but he changed his
mind and the result is a derivative musical’
‘This might be the most disappointing follow-up to an Oscar-winning performance since Anthony Hopkins
reworked his silky and terrifying Dr Lecter from for the campy, kitschy.’
Along with Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, other stars
that had appeared in the sequel include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beatz and
Steve Coogan.
Joker: Folie à Deux has faced additional
backlash from fans as they have claimed that Gaga is running the risk of
losing her acting career.

Lady Gaga had ‘no ego’ while filming Joker: Foile À Deux according to her
co-star Joaquin Phoenix.
Despite being known as a pop diva, Oscar-winner Joaquin gushed over Gaga’s
work ethic and preparation for the role, in a

‘I found her to be without ego and had such a fierce determination. She would get right in with us,’ she

‘She understood that there had to be a rawness to the character.

M. Night Shyamalan threw an epic Halloween party in Philadelphia on Saturday night.
The Sixth Sense director, 54, dressed as the villainous
Joker for his ‘Shyamaween’ bash.
His makeup was perfectly creepy and his costume
was from the 2008 film The Dark Knight, which saw the late Heath Ledger play the
iconic villain.
Shyamalan’s wife, Dr. Bhavna Shyamalan, 55, looked beautiful in an amber-colored, Victorian era gown with bats all over it.
Her makeup was a cross between zombie and goth as she proudly posed next to her talented husband who looked adoringly at her.

M. Night shot to fame in 1999 with his film The Sixth Sense, which
celebrated turning 25-years-old in August.
Shyamalan recently opened up about that film’s impact on his career in an interview with People.
‘At this point, there’s so many generations of people that

He added that some, people ‘only know me from [2015 movie] The Visit from then on, so they don’t even know about The

‘Each movie, I feel this way — that I don’t know if it’ll ever get made.
I don’t know if I’ll ever get to make another one… “If this is the last one, I want it to just represent me,”‘
he continued.

Heath Ledger’s 2008 portrayal of The Joker was M. Night’s inspiration for his costume this year
Shyamalan, who was born in Mahé India but grew up in Penn Valley, Pennsylvania, released two films in the 1990s before The Sixth Sense.
That set off a string a big hits for the filmmaker that
includes Unbreakable (2000), Signs (2002) and The Village (2004), that ultimately ended with the release of Lady In The Water (2006),
which barely covered the $70 million budget.
His biggest box office success was with The Sixth Sense, grossing $672.8
million while working with a $40 million budget 25 years ago.
To date, the film made $6.6 million on its first day, including an estimated $2.2 million from the Thursday night previews.

Briton Matthew Smith, the partner of former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Michael Jeffries, leaves court in Central Islip, New York on December 3, 2024
The partner of the ex-CEO of the Abercrombie and Fitch clothing line pleaded not
guilty Tuesday in US federal court to charges of sex trafficking and interstate
prostitution and was released on $10 million bond.
Briton Matthew Smith, the ex-CEO Mike Jeffries and their fixer James Jacobson allegedly used
a “casting couch” ploy to groom aspiring male models to attend sex
parties at which victims were plied with alcohol and drugs.
After his arrest in October in Florida with Jeffries, Smith was held in custody
in New York. Smith appeared in court Tuesday in Central Islip on Long
Island, to the east of New York City.
Smith pleaded not guilty and was released on a $10 million bond put up by Jeffries
and his family, said a statement from the US
attorney’s office for the eastern district of New York.
An AFP photographer saw Smith leave the courthouse with what appeared to be a large electronic surveillance bracelet attached to his ankle.

mode Abercrombie & Fitch, Michael Jeffries, sort du tribunal fédéral de
l’est de l’Etat de New York, à Central Islip, le 3 décembre 2024,
après avoir plaidé non coupable de trafic sexuel et proxénétisme
Another hearing is scheduled for December 10 for
Smith, Jeffries and Jacobson.
Jeffries, 80, was released on a $10 million bond in late October.
Jeffries, who served as CEO of Abercrombie and Fitch from 1992 to 2014, is
accused of creating and maintaining a ring that recruited young men to have sex with him and Smith.
Prosecutors allege that between December 2008 and March 2015 Jeffries,
Smith and Jacobson used a combination of “force, fraud and coercion” to traffic men in a sprawling prostitution enterprise.
Charging documents detail 15 anonymous victims, but prosecutors suggest the scale was probably much larger and have appealed for
witnesses and victims to come forward.
Prosecutors say young men were taken to the New York home of Jeffries and Smith and to hotels in Britain, France,
Italy, Morocco to have sex with them.
Jeffries faces the prospect of life in prison if convicted.
Jacobson also pleaded not guilty to the same charges as the other defendants and was released on half a million dollars bond in October.

‘Tis the season for decadence and a touch of sparkle – and what better way
to bring festive cheer than a fridge full of fizz for parties and impromptu
gatherings?
Champagne is admittedly my bubbly of choice –
I love both poised, elegant styles with brisk acidity and the richer, pastry-like, gastronomic pours.
But with Christmas all about sharing, toasting, and big get-togethers, stocking up is essential.
Consumer group Which? has named Tesco Finest Premier
Cru Brut Champagne the best Christmas fizz, outclassing Moët &
Chandon’s Brut Impérial. The supermarket fizz costs just
£25 a bottle, but many popular Champagnes are priced over £40.
With that in mind, I’m sharing my secrets for sparkling swaps that
keep both the palate and the wallet happy.

For Bolly bling without the sting, head to the Loire Valley, where the Bollinger family crafts this Crémant using the same traditional method as their Champagnes.
Made primarily from Chenin Blanc, which thrives in the Loire, it
undergoes 24 months of aging, delivering a Crémant with depth that offers a charming twist on Bollinger’s rich Champagne style

Swap for? Roederer Estate Quartet NV, £32
Saving: £248 a bottle
Renowned producer Louis Roederer is the name behind the iconic Cristal Champagne – a prized choice among
celebrities, especially when served in a flashy jeroboam, complete with sparklers in the ‘VIP section’ of nightclubs.
But if the £270 price tag brings tears to your eyes, try
Cristal’s Californian cousin, Quartet. Crafted in the cool Anderson Valley, it offers a taste
of luxury for almost a tenth of the cost.
Laurent Perrier Rosé Champagne, £80
Swap for? Morrisons The Best Crémant De Limoux
Rosé NV, £12.50
Saving: £67.50 a bottle
If you’re after something pink, grab this super chic Crémant de
Limoux from Morrisons – delivering luxe for less. With a delicate effervescence and notes of
strawberries and cream, it hints at pink Champagne at five times the price.
And here’s a little-known fact: legend has it that the art of fizz was first discovered in Limoux,
in the South of France – though our friends in Champagne
may disagree.
Ace of Spades Champagne, £315
Swap for? Segura Viudas Brut Vintage Premium Cava,
£12
Saving: £303 a bottle
For showstopping-style on a shoestring, skip Harrods, forget Jay-Z’s
red-carpet-ready ‘Ace of Spades’ and head to Sainsbury’s for Segura Viudas premium
cava, complete with a shield that’s delightfully close to a spade.
For the price of one bottle of that Champagne, you could bag 26 bottles of this classy cava

Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Champagne, £89
Swap for? Fortnum’s Franca Contea Franciacorta
Brut NV, £26.50
Saving: £62.50 a bottle
‘Blanc de Blancs’ meaning ‘white of whites’ is the
name for bubbles made solely from white grapes – typically
Chardonnay in Champagne, delivering elegance and finesse, à la Ruinart.
Prices have crept up as Blanc de Blancs become all the rage, but
hop over the border to the hidden gem of Franciacorta in Lombardy,
northern Italy, and you’ll find complex, vinous sips with plenty of flair, like this Fortnum’s pick.
Pol Roger Champagne, £55
Swap for? Graham Beck Selection Sparkling Wine, £13.50
Saving: £41.50 a bottle
I served these delicious South African bubbles at my wedding – quaffed in record time, with
nobody realising it wasn’t Champagne. As well as my
own big day, Graham Beck has made an appearance
at state events for Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama, earning
it the title of ‘presidential pick’ for sparkling wine.
And you’ll save a few quid compared to other politician favourites, like Pol
Roger.
Mumm Champagne, £39
Swap for? Mumm Marlborough Brut Prestige, £25
Saving: £14 a bottle
From Marlborough, New Zealand’s premier region and home of top Brit sip,
Sauvignon Blanc, comes a fresh take on fizz. Blessed with sunshine

bubbles.
Veuve Clicquot Champagne, £48
Swap for? Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut NV, £14.99
Saving: £33.01 a bottle
First launched over a decade ago at £12.99, Aldi has miraculously kept their best-selling Veuve Monsigny Champagne under £15.
For a sprightly, quaffable style, it’s unbeatable at
that price – perfect for Buck’s Fizz at Christmas Day brunch,
canapés, and a refreshing post-turkey sip.
It’s worth mentioning that the Premier Cru label at £21.99
is a real step up and fantastic value too.
Moët & Chandon Champagne, £44
Swap for? Chandon Brut Argentina, £23
Saving: £21 a bottle
From Champagne giant Moët & Chandon, Chandon Brut is a Champagne-style bubbly
from Mendoza, Argentina. If you’re thinking Mendoza is known for its hot climate and big, bold Malbec reds,
think again – Chandon’s vineyards are situated in the foothills of the
Andes at over 1,000 metres, where cooling influences help retain that desirable freshness in the grapes.

What do pop star Lily Allen, Olympic gold medal-winning diver Jack
Laugher, tennis player Nick Kyrgios and 25-year-old Bonnie Blue from Nottingham, who has filmed herself having sex
with hundreds of 18-year-old students (and sometimes their dads,
too), all have in common?
Yes, you guessed it. They are all ‘creatives’ on OnlyFans,
the adults-only online content provider founded in 2016 by a young Essex businessman called Tim Stokely, which is now one of the most
visited (and lucrative) websites in the world.
Just last month, Lily Allen caused a stir by revealing that she makes more money charging $10
(£8) – the site works in dollars – for pictures
of her feet on her OnlyFans account labelled ‘La Dolca Feeta’ than she does from her 7.5million monthly listeners on Spotify.
But Lily’s content is tame in comparison to much of the content on the site, the sort company execs refer to as ‘spicy’.
Everything from cheeky shots of bottoms peeking out of bubble baths,
blondes stirring vats of steaming pasta in G-strings, hot
men waxing cars in their pants, right through
the sex spectrum to twosomes, threesomes, sixsomes and hardcore pornographic videos.
But also because, thanks to the allure of OnlyFans and the astonishing
sums that a teeny number of the platform’s 4.1million creatives are raking in, more and
more young women (and it is mostly young women) who
would never have considered it before are suddenly happy to join in and
sell photos of, well, pretty much anything, to pay rent,
settle credit card bills or splash out on nice holidays. Basically, a flashier life all
round.
‘We feel empowered. We have agency. It’s completely up to
me if I take my top off or not,’ says one 21-year-old girl, who joined
a year ago and makes enough in a week to cover a year’s student rent at Sheffield University and
prefers not to give her name.
‘And I am happy to do it because for once I make
the rules, in the safety of my home and they’re paying me
to do it. It’s a mug’s game, but I am not the mug.’
For the benefit of those readers who are not among the site’s 305million users,
OnlyFans offers creators a platform where they can charge their
fans a subscription fee ranging from $4.99 to $49.99 a month to look at their content,
contact them (or more often access their ‘chatter’ –
more of which later) and access often more explicit, personalised,
‘à la carte’ content through ‘tips’.
OnlyFans model Bonnie Blue has filmed herself having sex with hundreds of 18-year-olds
Rapper Cardi B is said to make $9million (£7.1million) a month from the site
Actress Bella Thorne, a former Disney child star, made a record-breaking $1million (£800,000)
in 24 hours
‘Pay $10 to unlock this video’. ‘Click here for more spicy content’.
‘The more you pay, the more you see’. You get the gist.
In 2023, the site generated a record $6.6billion (£5.2billion),
of which the company takes a straight 20 per cent – much less than YouTube –
and the rest goes to the ‘performers’.
It is unlike Instagram or other social media sites in that nothing is suggested – instead,
you have to search for, and then subscribe to, individual accounts to
see much more than profile pictures.
Which is a good thing, because while some of the content
is anodyne, much is highly sexual and many people on the site
can bob freely from one to another. Perhaps a cookery hack one day, modelling new boots the next, then graduate to a few cheeky cleavage and bikini shots and
more, as the money becomes more tempting.
Every week, it seems, we hear of someone who has made
millions.
Last month it was announced that American influencer
Corinna Kopf had retired from the site, aged 28, after making $67million (£53million).
In her best month, she reportedly earned more than $2million (£1.6million).
Rapper Cardi B is said to earn more than $9million (£7.1million) a month from the site.
Meanwhile, Darcie Rattles was an out-of-work bricklayer with £6,000 in credit card bills and debts when she
joined OnlyFans in 2022.
‘I was thinking: how the hell am I going to get to next week?
How am I going to pay my credit cards?’ she says in an online interview.
‘I’m young, I’ve got a good body and I’ve got a lot of followers.
It is what any girl would turn to. It had been in the back of mind for two
years, but then I did it.’
Within two days of launching, she had earned enough to pay off
her debts. Today, Darcie, who comes across as likeable, down-to-earth and has no qualms about what she shares, claims to earn more than £250,000 a year.
Pop singer Lily Allen has discovered a niche market…
… she sells pictures of her feet for £8 and makes more money from her account
labelled ‘La Dolca Feeta’ than she does from her 7.5million monthly listeners on Spotify
‘It doesn’t matter to me whether I get my feet out, or my other bits out,
‘ she says.
Though it does tend to be the other bits, because Darcie’s content promises very
few clothes and, for those who pay extra, ‘a naughty side to me you’ve never seen before’.
But even Darcie seems like the girl next door compared to Lily Phillips, a British model who earned £2,000 in her first 24 hours on the site
and recently went viral for sleeping with 101
men over a 14-hour period. She has since announced she is planning to set a record of having sex
with 1,000 men in 24 hours.
And Bonnie Blue, a beautiful blonde with a golden tan and
astonishingly white teeth, who has worked her way round Derby, Nottingham,
Cancun and Australia, sleeping with university students.
On one night during Nottingham Trent freshers’ week
– after publicising her stunt by wearing a sandwich board
that read: ‘Bonk me for free and let me film it’ – she
had boys queuing up from 6pm until five in the morning.
‘I got through them all,’ she said proudly in one interview in which
she reminds us that, thanks to OnlyFans, she has already banked more than £3
million – for which she was applauded by her
followers for her entrepreneurship.
But all that is chicken feed when you consider the £370 million dividend that company owner
paid himself last year.
And these days that’s Leonid Radvinsky, who bought a
majority stake from Tim Stokely in 2018, two years after he
started the business with the help of a loan from his father.
It was the Covid-era lockdowns that thrust OnlyFans into the
stratosphere. Everyone shut up at home, nothing to do.
In 2020, it generated revenues of $2.23billion (£1.8billion).
By 2021, it was up to $4.8billion (£3.8billion).
There was a brief hiatus in October of that year when they tried banning sexually explicit content but that lasted about ten minutes before they switched back.
There have been plenty of scandals along the way.
A BBC investigation back in 2021 revealed that children were not just accessing
the material online by foxing the age verification process but were also
selling explicit videos on the website. Leah, 17, had used a fake driving licence
to set up an OnlyFans account where she made £5,000 uploading revealing videos
of herself.
There have also been claims of OnlyFans creators
using public gyms and spaces to make adult content.
Recently there has been more concerns that the company is not
doing enough to protect minors.
OnlyFans, however, prefers to portray itself as a force for good, with supporters arguing that it empowers people by allowing
them to sell content – over which they have full control
– directly to consumers. And many of the Gen Z generation seem to agree.
‘It’s fine. It’s empowering. It’s taking control,’ they cry, pointing
out that the site has loads of moderators and a tight security system to ensure that all users are over 18.
And they say, anyway, that OnlyFans isn’t just about sex.
Of course, they’re right. It has long been awash with pneumatic reality TV stars and the likes of Lottie
Moss, Kerry Katona and Katie Price, who are happy to tease their followers with
a few cheeky peeks in skimpy bikinis.
I spend an afternoon browsing the site and, while it
is not all ‘spicy’ content as the company
executives like to call it, everything is dripping with sauce and promise.
The big lips, the push-up bras, even the way a pretty Spanish chef is holding her paella pan. Company executives have been pushing hard
to make the platform more mainstream – offering contracts
and financial incentives to encourage musicians, sports stars,
cooks, anyone really, to come on and share a bit of exclusive – or niche –
content.
Really, anything that people will pay to look at – glimpses backstage at concerts.
Celebrities in the bath.
During the 2024 Olympic Games, a raft of athletes jumped on the OnlyFans bandwagon to share pictures of their beautifully toned bodies.
Along with Jack Laugher, Team NZ rower Robbie Manson uses the site to share ‘exclusive content that
tastefully explores the boundaries, including artistic
portrayals of nudity’ for $14.99 a month. British speedskater
Olympic diver Jack Laugher is among a number of sports stars using OnlyFans
Reality TV star Kerry Katona has also teased followers with content
Lottie Moss has also taken to the adults-only online content provider that was founded in 2016 and is used by 4.1 million creatives
Elise Christie turned to the site when she found herself in financial difficulties.
All of which seems to be working well for them, but it can be rather
murkier for others.
Not least because, in less than a decade, OnlyFans has spawned an entire support industry of ‘sugar daddies’
who support performers financially and ‘chatters’ who work for them.
‘Sugar daddies’ tend to be older male businessmen who ‘invest’
in promising creatives. In what are referred to rather murkily as ‘mutually beneficial deals’, they invest in branding and marketing and
videography to boost traffic.
Chatters are different. For the real stars, the traffic is so high and the interaction with followers so demanding
that if they had to do it all themselves, there’s no way they would
ever have time to put their pyjamas back on.
So ‘chatters’ – a sort of online 21st-century Cyrano de Bergerac
– do that for them. Keeping them engaged, online, needy
and most of all, spending, spending, spending for more and more content.
Which means, of course, that the whole thing is a total scam.
The poor daft subscriber thinks he’s really making a connection with ‘Racy Tracey from
Twickenham’, but is more likely chatting to a middle-aged father of
three from the Philippines.
He will have learnt everything about Tracey – her favourite colour, favourite animal
and favourite position – have studied a script that reminds him ‘it’s all about selling,
selling, selling’, and will be being paid $4 an hour for his efforts.
Or the subscriber could just be talking to an AI bot – which
perhaps is more appealing.

EXCLUSIVE
A year after split, I’ve had a baby and got engaged,
writes Mother Pukka ANNA WHITEHOUSE
Chatters can be dangerous. As Alanya, a paralegal from Scotland, discovered when she learned that one of
her most enthusiastic followers had travelled to her home
town to find her, encouraged by her chatter.
‘My chatter told him that I loved him. I would never,
ever have said that,’ she said.
But, sadly, chatters, sugar daddies and stalkers are not
a problem for most creatives. Almost all of whom are still struggling to make any proper money, however many clothes they take off.
They will never know the clout of Cardi B, or
Lily Allen, or former Disney child star Bella Thorne,
who famously made a record- breaking $1million (£800,000) in 24 hours when she joined in August
2020. (Though initially there was some confusion as to whether she would
be appearing nude or not. She did not – which caused quite a rumpus.)
Because, unlike celebrities who can redirect their existing social media followers to their OnlyFans accounts, most
people find it hard to grab attention without doing something,
well, grabby.
So, despite all the tales of golden riches,
the average earnings of an OnlyFans creative is still just $150 (£118) a month and, with the market now so flooded, is only likely to go one way.
And it’s easy to see how, if you’re a young woman who has convinced yourself that you’re in control, empowered and mistress of your own destiny, you could
find yourself moving inevitably and inexorably
up (or perhaps down) the scale, revealing more and more.
Until, before you know it, like Bonnie Blue and Lily Phillips, you’ve kept nothing back for yourself.

Elsewhere, one Gavin and Stacey star has confirmed that they will be appearing in the highly-anticipated Christmas special and

Steffan Rhodri, known as Dave ‘Coaches’ Gooch on the show, has revealed a small spoiler about the final episode
Speaking to Metro, he said: ‘My character Dave is a bit of an outsider but

He added that he can’t say anything else about the Christmas special,

Steffan missed the 2019 Christmas special, meaning he hasn’t filmed for the show in 17 years.

LONDON, Sept 28 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International (PMI)
on Thursday signalled a slower than anticipated U.S.
roll out of its IQOS heated tobacco device, a choice analysts said was positive for its competitors in the short term.
The New York-listed Marlboro maker also said it aims for more than two
thirds of its net revenues to come from “smoke-free” products by 2030,
up from 50% in 2025, as it tries to transform its image from a cigarette purveyor to a driver of the
shift to healthier alternatives.
Investors have been closely watching IQOS’ entry into the
U.S., the world’s largest market for nicotine products, and
had been expecting it from May 2024 next year.
Reuters reported on Wednesday that PMI is hiring lobbyists across
a host of key U.S. states ahead of the launch.
Chief Executive Jacek Olczak said IQOS would launch in four cities in two unnamed
U.S. states from 2024, but a national launch would only come after
PMI receives approval to sell the latest version, known as IQOS ILUMA.
The company was planning to apply for approval
in October and expected it from 2025, he continued.
“We need to warm up the tyres,” he said of the initial launch, which would help PMI fine tune its approach.
A national roll-out of ILUMA would follow but in phases, he continued,
adding launching in 10 states in the first year would make sense.
Meaningful traction for PMI’s heated tobacco products in the U.S.
“now looks delayed until ILUMA,” Owen Bennett, equity analyst at Jefferies, said in a note,
adding this was a positive for PMI’s rivals.
Olczak also signalled that PMI’s push into non-nicotine products was
no longer a priority. It recently scrapped an ambition for $1 billion in net revenues to come from sales of such products by
2025.
Instead, PMI will focus its resources on IQOS and nicotine pouch brand ZYN, Olczak said, adding it had been too optimistic
around acceptance of big tobacco companies operating outside of nicotine.
PMI also announced updated medium-term targets including for revenue and earnings per share, and ambitious volume targets for IQOS and ZYN.
ZYN and other oral nicotine products in the U.S.
would help drive an expected $2 billion in revenues there in 2024, even before IQOS ILUMA, executives said.
PMI shares were up 1.5% on Thursday. (Reporting by Emma Rumney in London and Granth Vanaik in Bengaluru; additional reporting by Ananya Mariam Rajesh in Bengaluru; Writing by Emma Rumney;
