Xüsusi təyinatlı qüvvələr paytaxt Xartum və ölkənin şimalındakı Merove şəhərlərindəki aeroportları nəzarət altına alıb. Sudan ordusu isə Xartumdakı prezident sarayına gedən yolları bağlayıb və sarayı zirehli texnikalarla mühasirəyə alıb. Şəhərin müxtəlif rayonlarında döyüşlər gedir.
