Alimlərin fikrincə, zəlzələ 2021-ci ilin dekabrında Marsın səthinə meteorit zərbəsi nəticəsində baş verib. Maraqlıdır ki, bu indiyədək müşahidə olunan təkanlardan fərqli olub – zəlzələdən yaranan seysmik dalğa bütün planetin səthinə yayılıb.
Alimlərin fikrincə, belə səth dalğaları Marsın qabığının strukturunu öyrənməyə kömək edir.
Gələcəkdə alimlər əldə edilən məlumatlar əsasında Marsın qabığının formalaşması və qalınlığının modelini yaratmağı planlaşdırırlar.
