Qafqaztimes xəbər verir ki, 26 May çərşənbə günü Suriyada növbəti prezident seçkiləri keçirildi və Suriya parlamentinin sədri Həmudə Səbbaq, 28 May cümə günü Bəşar Əsədin səslərin 95% -dən çoxunu (13.540.360 səs) qazanaraq bu prezident seçkilərində qalib gəldiyini elan etdi. Suriya parlament sədrinin sözlərinə görə, bu prezident seçkilərində 14 milyon 239 min Suriya vətəndaşı iştirak edib ki, bu da seçki hüququna malik vətəndaşların 78% -nə bərabərdir.
Bəşar Əsədin bu qələbəsindən sonra Suriya xalqı Laziqiyyə, Cəbələ, Hələb, Homs və s. kimi müxtəlif şəhərlərdə küçələrə axışaraq bayram etmişlər.
